CAKES and CLASSMATES

Honestly, I had an uneasy time during the first day of my Pastry class last Saturday (Sept. 27). Maybe because I have grown to enjoy the company of my Bread Baking batchmates. I was with a new group of people and it felt awkward and uncomfortable. Magulo, maingay at nakakatawa kasi kami sa FBB26. Plus the fact that we made only a handful of pastries that day (aalog-alog yung cream puffs sa napakalaki kong tupperware!) .
But today (Oct. 4), my second week, I'm starting to get comfortable. I have met new friends: Tracy, JB, Jecca, Pia, Francis, Zoilo, etc. In other words, umiingay na rin kami. hehehe..

These were the pastries we did last week:

ROLE REVERSAL

Last Friday, as my batchmates and I went inside ISCAHM's pastry kitchen, I was greeted by a shrieking voice and a warm hug from a familiar face. It's Cham Villaroman. A former student of mine who now works for L'Aubergine (ISCAHM's resto). She also trains/assists students at ISCAHM. She was there to assist us that afternoon. Strange... it was a few years ago when I was the one assisting her in her Communication Arts classes (English, Filipino and Performing Arts). Reversal of roles... hehehe

These were the baked goods we did last Friday in Fundamentals of Bread Baking:

OATMEAL BREAD and PRETZELS

MINI PIZZA

DELICE

ENGLISH MUFFINS

LOAF BREAD

Perfect for Pasta

While I was in my class last Friday, my sister Gina, texted me to ask if I was going to bring home baked goods (as I have been doing for the past weeks) because she was planning to make her self-proclaimed best pasta carbonara that night. I texted her back to tell her that the stuff that I would be taking home would be perfect for that dish. Talagang tinapay kung tinapay sya! Sari-saring tinapay! Hayan...

BACK TO THE GYM

Last Saturday, I went back to the gym after a little over a month of not working out. I was glad to see the gym entirely to myself... well, for the first 10 minutes anyway. The experience was cathartic. In a way, all the accumulated physical, mental and emotional stress were somewhat flushed out of my system... Can't wait to get a massage though. My back is in knots! Anyway, I hope I won't get lazy working out again.... sigh....
